Fridayyyyy!
Today’s practice was painting a water droplet.
To start:

Then fill in blue.

I painted along the outline, then used a clean wet brush to spread out the dark blue.

I added in darker blue to the top, then tried to make it even darker, which seemed to have worsened it.

Added in shadows and also added in highlights to the surface of the droplet, which was a mistake because the paint was still wet.
The better way was to wait for the area to dry then remove paint with a clean brush, or use masking fluid from the beginning. Or use white paint after the area dries.

The shadow needed to be darker, repeat and pull the paint with a clean brush.
So that’s the end result.
I think much improvement is needed; the droplet color is too unnatural.
2nd try.

Didn’t draw an outline, this time wetted the area by painting an oval with water.
Then with blue paint, painted along the outline of the wet oval.

At this point I think it looked a little bit better than the 1st try.

And then whoops.
Not good.
Since the darker blue was already loaded on my brush, might as well add in the shadow.

Huh.
By adding the shadow, it really brought out the highlights.

…It would have been good to just wash the shadow, and not touch the top.
Let’s just say I was not able to save it.
