Day 003 of 147 of Learning Watercolor: Outline with Pencil and without

I drew something.

Loose drawing of the object

And then I mixed colors.

Now that purple is mixed, I can start to fill in the outline of the grapes.

Hmm….something does not look right.

I was not going for blueberries

At this point, it would have been a good idea to just fill in the white highlights with a dark blue or gray to act as the calyx of blueberries.

Well, it certainly did not occur to me at that moment.

Darker highlights to shape the grapes

I need to save it…

Added in red

Goodbye, grapes. These look like a bunch of eerie eyes now.

2nd attempt: I got lazy and didn’t want to draw circles again.

The bunch of grapes looked too symmetrical.

Still too symmetrical?

The top grapes lost its shape since I didn’t wait for each circle to dry before painting the next.

The bottom looked a little unbalanced which bothered me.

…Adding the last circle on the bottom right just made everything look too wide.

Excuse me now.
